Foraging

April 13th, 2019

Lately I was extremely busy at work and did not have too much time to hike on my usual trails. This spring weather was not cooperating either. The overnight temperature still dips under zero Celzius and daylight high varies wildly. Winds and precipitation makes it really not too favorable for hiking.

Finally today sun was out and all conditions were perfect. Walking through woods I was surprised with minimal amounts of green showing up.

The only exception is skunk cabbage showing in great beautiful shoots wherever is some mud or moisture present.

I visited one of my usual ramp (Allium_tricoccum) spots. They are just starting up and majority is still under leaf coverage.

I did pick a handful just to remind myself of the great taste of this exquisite wild food. At this stage characteristic bulbs are not developed yet and onion smell is not overpowering.
